What can dermal fillers address?

Dermal fillers are injectable materials used to add or restore volume in selected facial areas. A thoughtful plan may help soften a hollow appearance, refine a contour or balance features that have changed over time. Fillers are different from neuromodulators: they do not work by relaxing facial muscles. Their effect depends on the material used, the amount placed, the treatment area and your own anatomy. Olga Aesthetic Medicine offers options including the JUVÉDERM® and RHA® collections, with product selection based on an individual consultation rather than a single approach for everyone.

People often arrive with a very specific request, such as adding volume to the lips or improving a facial contour. It can be useful to step back and look at proportions from more than one angle. What looks like a concern in one area may be influenced by volume or structure nearby. Olga can discuss whether filler is suitable, whether a smaller staged approach makes sense, and whether the result you want is realistic. Her aim is to respect how your face looks and moves, so that changes are balanced rather than overfilled.

How is a plan made?

The visit begins with your goals and health history. Tell Olga about previous fillers, dental work, skin infections, cold sores, allergies and medications, especially anything that may affect bruising or healing. She will assess the area and explain product choice, placement, amount, costs and alternatives. Some hyaluronic acid fillers can be adjusted or dissolved with an appropriate medication, but that is not a guarantee of an easy reversal or a reason to rush a decision. Different filler products have different properties and approved uses.

After injections, temporary swelling, tenderness and bruising are common. An early result can look different from the settled result because swelling changes over time. Depending on the area, a follow-up may help determine whether further treatment is needed. More is not always better; a staged plan can allow you and Olga to assess the first change before deciding on another step. Results are not permanent, and their duration varies by product, area, treatment technique and individual factors.

What should I know about safety?

Fillers are medical procedures with real risks. Lumps, asymmetry, infection and unwanted appearance can occur. Rare accidental injection into a blood vessel can cause tissue injury, vision loss or stroke. Seek immediate medical care for unusual severe pain, blanching or dusky skin, sudden vision changes or stroke-like symptoms after filler. Choosing a qualified injector, discussing your history honestly and understanding the proposed product are important parts of care. Olga will review risks, instructions and the circumstances in which filler may not be recommended for you.

The best question is not simply “How many syringes?” but “What change would serve my goals, and what are the tradeoffs?” A consultation can help you decide whether filler, another treatment or no treatment is the right next step. Ask how a proposed result would look both at rest and in motion. Read the FDA’s dermal filler guide before making your decision.
