Book AppointmentWhat are biostimulators?
Biostimulators are injectable treatments used in selected areas to encourage a gradual change in tissue appearance. Olga Aesthetic Medicine discusses options including RADIESSE® and Sculptra®. These products are different materials with different instructions and approved uses. RADIESSE® is a calcium hydroxylapatite-based filler that can provide an immediate filling effect in appropriate areas and also supports collagen production. Sculptra® contains poly-L-lactic acid particles and is used in a series-based approach to stimulate collagen over time. A consultation is necessary to decide whether either option fits your goals and anatomy.
You may be interested in a biostimulator if your concern is less about changing one small line and more about broader volume or skin quality. People often describe looking tired, noticing a loss of facial support or wanting improvement that appears gradually. These concerns have different causes, and no injectable can address all of them. Olga evaluates facial structure, skin, previous treatment and the degree of change you are seeking. She can explain when a traditional filler, a neuromodulator or another approach might be more suitable.
How does treatment unfold?
Before treatment, you will discuss the proposed product, expected number of visits, placement and likely timeline. RADIESSE® and Sculptra® do not have the same treatment course. With Sculptra®, the early fullness immediately after injection is partly related to the fluid used to prepare the product and should not be mistaken for the final collagen response. Change may develop gradually over weeks and months. Results vary, and no exact amount of collagen growth or particular duration can be guaranteed. Your clinician may recommend planned reassessment before deciding whether another session would be useful.
Biostimulation is often chosen with the goal of a refreshed appearance that still looks like you. That does not mean the treatment is invisible or risk free. The amount, depth and area of injection matter. A balanced plan considers how your face moves, how much volume is needed and how the proposed change will look from multiple angles. If you have had filler elsewhere, bring the product names and dates if available. This helps avoid making decisions without a full picture of earlier treatments.
Questions to discuss first
Ask what product is being recommended and why, where it would be placed, how many sessions might be needed and what alternatives are available. Review allergies, autoimmune concerns, active infection, pregnancy or breastfeeding, medicines and any history of problematic scarring or prior injectable reactions. Bruising, swelling, pain, redness, itching and lumps or nodules are possible. As with other facial injections, accidental intravascular injection can cause serious injury. Contact your clinician promptly about unusual symptoms and seek urgent care for sudden vision changes, severe pain or signs of a stroke.
An informed plan includes both the hoped-for improvement and the limits of what is likely. Olga will discuss candidacy, aftercare and the product’s specific safety information before you choose treatment. Ask what changes should prompt a call after your appointment.
